United States Space Force Lt. Gen. DeAnna M. Burt said her priority when assigning officers is not their qualifications but whether they will have access to “gender-affirming care.” She noted that several states have banned gender-altering surgeries and so-called puberty blockers for minors, and this now helps determine where people will be posted.
During a recent Pride event speech, Lt. Burt said that radical cultural and social change requires strong leadership and pointed to more than 400 laws passed at state level which she believes are “anti-LGBTQ+.”
She continued, “If a good match for a job does not feel safe being themselves and performing at their highest potential at a given location, or if their family could be denied critical health care due to the laws in that state, I am compelled to consider a different candidate, perhaps less qualified.”
The statement prompted outrage from some military service personnel. Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier was fired from his post in 2021 when he criticized the Marxist infiltration of public institutions, including the US military. Lohmeier described a guidance memorandum that had been issued to every serving military member. In it, personnel was warned about “extremist ideologies.” Meanwhile, accompanying videos taught that America, founded in 1619, is a racist country, and white people are inherently evil.
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, argues that cultural Marxism is one of the gravest threats faced by the United States, particularly its military. In a 2022 report, the group stated that most Americans believe communism was defeated with the close of the cold war, but in fact, it is more powerful in America than it has ever been. The report says communists and Marxists have disguised their true intentions in morality-based campaigns centered around “equality” and “social justice.”
The report furthermore claims that “Because of cultural Marxism’s inroads into the education system, many of America’s youth have already been raised on a diet of ideas that directly undermine the American Founding.”
