The man with 140 million Twitter followers, a social network he has owned since the end of October, Elon Musk, has established his influence and power on a philosophy that can be summed up as “I don’t give a s**t.”
He’s become known for it.
He describes this as cognitive liberty, autonomy, and the absence of moral superiority. A snub of PC, he says over and over.
This week, the Twitter CEO has responded to accusations of anti-semitism in response to comments he made about billionaire George Soros. He told people to “calm down.”
On Monday, Musk tweeted that Democratic megadonor George Soros “reminds me of Magneto,” the main antagonist/villain in the X-Men Marvel series who is also depicted as a Holocaust survivor. Soros is Jewish and managed to escape the Holocaust.
Musk said that people take it for granted that Soros’ actions are well-meaning. “They are not,” he said. Musk feels Soros seeks to destroy the foundations on which civilization rests, and Soros hates humanity.
Musk told CNBC viewers on Tuesday to “calm down” about his comments.
“He reminds me of Magneto,” Musk stated of the interview subject. People need to chill out here and try not to extrapolate too much and create a metaphor.
After being challenged about his statement that Soros “hates humanity,” Musk answered that he thinks that is true.
Musk also self-identified as a pro-semite, not an anti-semite.
The CEO of many companies also claimed he did not care if his provocative statements hurt his companies like Tesla and Twitter.
He said he’ll say what he wants, and if the consequence is losing money, so be it.
Musk announced that Twitter had hired a new CEO and that he is resigning from his position soon.
This week, he informed investors that he would not be leaving his position as CEO of Tesla.
