After months of accusing Fox News of being biased against him and carrying the water for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former President Donald Trump will appear on the network for a town hall event next week.
The network made the announcement on Thursday that Trump will attend a town hall gathering moderated by presenter Sean Hannity in New Hampshire.
The town hall will be recorded in the morning before airing on the evening of June 1st.
DeSantis formally entered the race by having a Twitter Spaces chat between Elon Musk and a group of reporters. The launch was widely panned because of the technical hiccups the broadcast endured.
DeSantis also appeared on Fox News, where he spoke with presenter Trey Gowdy about his campaign.
Trump has frequently taken to Twitter to vent his frustrations with Fox News, which has seen its ratings plummet since the April firing of Tucker Carlson. He attacked Fox for its loss of “prestige.”
On May 15th, he wrote, “He sucks, & so does FoxNews!” in reference to network commentator Mark Thiessen.
He gloated over the decline of Fox News’ popularity on May 15 via Truth Social.
Trump characterized Fox News as the DeSanctimonious Network, but it will “never work.” He said DeSantis didn’t have the goods.
He said he was certain to fail without his support, and he’s getting there again, “even with Fox!” He said the Florida governor is “dropping like a rock.”
Trump’s Fox News town hall in New Hampshire will air shortly after his appearance at a similar event with CNN. Trump successfully avoided an ambush by network anchor Kaitlin Collins during the broadcast.
Despite a rapidly expanding field, Trump and DeSantis are now seen as the two most likely contenders to emerge from the 2024 GOP primary.
Several other, much less likely, candidates have also launched their candidacies, including Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Tim Scott.
It is widely anticipated that former Vice President Mike Pence will enter the race shortly.
