Earlier this month, at a gambling resort in Las Vegas, an alleged attacker stabbed another woman while she sat at a slot machine.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) arrested 38-year-old Elonda Alexander on July 9 in connection with the knifing that occurred at the Aztec Inn casino on July 8. While attacking the unidentified victim, Alexander allegedly yelled, “I hope you die,” among other expletives.
Alexander, who was given a bond of $20,000, is still held at the Clark County Detention Center more than two weeks after the event. She is being held on two counts of undisclosed offenses, one of which is battery with the use of a dangerous weapon. Her case has been sent to local prosecutors, and a conviction could lead to incarceration.
The victim, who had multiple knife wounds to the back, was transported to a nearby hospital. She was discharged after receiving medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
During questioning by law enforcement, Alexander admitted to the stabbing. Additionally, she confessed that her acquaintance with the victim predated their meeting at the casino. The two women and an unidentified man allegedly spent the day using methamphetamine.
Alexander, who goes by the name “Moe Jo,” grew enraged earlier in the day when the victim’s printer stopped working. Alexander, who is homeless, was trying to print the necessary documents for her upcoming Social Security benefits.
The trio’s next stop was the Aztec Inn, where the victim was lured to sit at a slot machine by Alexander’s partner. The length of time that passed in the casino before the violent altercation between Alexander and the victim is uncertain.
Allegedly, Alexander threw the knife on the gaming floor during the attack and then ran away. The knife was brought to the casino’s lost and found section when an employee noticed it and alerted the authorities. Police from the LVMPD confiscated it as evidence.
Alexander’s arrest was made when officers checked security footage from the casino.
