(PresidentialWire.com)- Russian President Vladimir Putin is very, very happy with President Joe Biden. And that should probably tell us something.
The Russian president has reportedly praised President Biden on maintaining constructive ties between the two countries, insisting during an economic forum conference in Moscow last Wednesday that there are “stable and working” contacts with the Biden administration. He also said that he is currently hosting a round of discussions with American diplomats and extends that offer of direct communication to the president.
It comes after Biden dropped Trump-era sanctions on the Russian and German Nord Stream 2 pipeline, in favor of dropping the long-awaited Keystone XL pipeline that would have established an energy relationship between the United States and Canada.
What is Biden thinking?
Putin also suggested that he would be willing to work with President Joe Biden on matters of terrorism and arms control. It comes only weeks after it was revealed that the United States was offered the use of Russian military bases in the Middle East to assist with the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
“The U.S. undersecretary of state is currently in Moscow. We discuss. She is holding talks with her Russian counterparts to discuss the issues of our further contacts with President Biden,” Putin said. “So, we have quite constructive relations with the current U.S. administration.”
President Putin also warned that international partners must avoid engaging in “politically motivated gossip” – probably a reference to the kind of nonsense that was peddled anytime President Donald Trump tried to work constructively with him.
