Twitter Removes Blue Checkmarks From Taliban Leaders

(Presidentialwire.com)- Twitter appears to have removed verified check marks from Taliban accounts that purchased them.

According to reports, Twitter only granted “verified” status to active, noteworthy, and legitimate accounts of public interest. However, Elon Musk’s new plan allows individuals to pay for checkmarks. The Twitter Blue verification system, introduced last December, costs $8 per month, while users of the social media app on Apple devices are charged $11 monthly.

According to Twitter, it is a way to get priority ranking in searches, mentions, and replies to help reduce the visibility of scams, spam, and bots.

Twitter clarifies that a blue check may indicate that the account has an active subscription to the new Twitter Blue subscription service and has met our eligibility requirements or that the account was previously verified under the legacy verification criteria.

Last December, the system was reintroduced after the initial launch failed due to impersonators posing as organizations or political figures. Musk then paused the verification plan to ensure that similar problems would not arise.

According to the media, Hedayatullah Hedayat, the head of the Taliban’s department for “access to information,” Abdul Haq Hamad at the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture, and four additional significant backers of the terrorist organization were also using the verification markers.

The BBC reported that Taliban members were employing the technique of purchasing verification. The terrorist organization also seized control of verified Twitter accounts used by the previous administration.

After the report was published, it appeared that Twitter terminated the blue check subscriptions for Taliban members. Hedayat and Hammad’s Twitter accounts no longer displayed the blue check mark.

Reports show Musk has begun excluding certain users from the platform while permitting others to rejoin. The Babylon Bee was removed from the platform for joking about its “Man Of The Year” award going to Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services Rachel Levine, a biological male.

The Babylon Bee was reinstated on Twitter after Musk assumed control.

Isn’t it ridiculous that President Donald Trump was banned from Twitter, but the Taliban wasn’t?
