Trump Welcomes Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis at RNC

Donald Trump’s former Republican primary rivals Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis addressed the delegates on the second night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Haley, who was initially not planning to attend the convention, was invited at the last minute to deliver a speech in a show of unity following the near assassination of her former rival on July 13.

The former GOP candidate, who refused to endorse Trump when she dropped out of the primaries after Super Tuesday, began her speech by offering her “strong endorsement” of the former president.

She told the convention crowd that she graciously accepted Trump’s invitation to speak “in the name of unity.”

In endorsing Trump, Haley said that President Joe Biden was not competent enough to serve another term in office and suggested that his possible replacement, Vice President Kamala Harris, would be “a disaster” for the country.

Haley also offered words of advice to Trump-hesitant Republicans who supported her in the primaries, saying that they didn’t need to agree with Trump 100 percent of the time to cast their votes for him in November.

The former Trump UN ambassador also praised her former boss for his foreign and national security policies and suggested that even those who didn’t agree with Trump were “well served” when he was president.

Haley also called for the Republican Party to expand its base, explaining that the party was “better” and “stronger” when it welcomed Americans from “different backgrounds and experiences.”

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who spoke after Haley, also expressed his full-throated support for his former primary rival and hammered the Biden administration over its far-left agenda.

DeSantis slammed Biden over the crisis at the southern border and blasted his administration for its pursuit of far-left causes like DEI and its advance of the transgender ideology at the expense of parents.

The Florida Republican even got a laugh out of Donald Trump when he declared that America couldn’t afford another four years of the “Weekend at Bernie’s presidency.”
