(Presidentialwire.com)- Former President Trump let his worst instincts get the better of him on election night when he decided to take a victory lap over two Republican Senate candidates losing to the incumbent Democrats.
Trump took to Truth Social to celebrate the defeat of Republican Don Bolduc in New Hampshire. Bolduc, who was endorsed by Trump in the primary, failed to unseat vulnerable incumbent Democrat Maggie Hassan.
But because Bolduc distanced himself from Trump’s claim that the 2020 election was “stolen,” Trump celebrated Maggie Hassan’s victory, writing on Truth Social that Bolduc lost because he “disavowed” his position on election fraud.
Trump claimed that if Bolduc “stayed strong and true,” he would have won the race, adding “Lesson Learned!!”
But Bolduc wasn’t the only Republican whose loss Trump decided to celebrate.
When Republican Joe O’Dea lost his challenge to Colorado incumbent Democrat Michael Bennett, Trump could barely contain his glee.
In a bizarre celebratory post on Truth Social, Trump announced that O’Dea “lost BIG,” closing his post with “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
Make America Great Again by keeping Democrat Michael Bennett in the Senate?
O’Dea’s sin was criticizing the former president and saying that he would campaign against Trump if he runs for the GOP nomination in 2024. The thin-skinned Trump responded by accusing O’Dea of being a RINO and saying MAGA Republicans won’t vote for “stupid people with big mouths.”
After Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trounced Democrat Charlie Crist by twenty points, many in the conservative media began describing DeSantis as the future of the Republican Party.
Unsurprisingly, this did not sit well with Trump.
In response to the praise heaped on DeSantis, Trump released a statement Thursday attacking the Republican superstar, calling him “an average Republican governor” and accusing him of disloyalty for not being sufficiently grateful for Trump getting him elected in 2018.
Trump’s attack on DeSantis stunned even his most loyal supporters, many of whom think very highly of the Florida governor.
