(PresidentialWire.com)- This has not been a good year for Rochester, New York Mayor Lovely Warren or her husband Timothy Granison. And Friday it just got worse.
In an indictment unsealed Friday afternoon by the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Warren and her husband have each been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of failure to lock/secure firearms in a dwelling.
These aren’t the first charges against Warren or Granison.
In October of 2020, Lovely Warren was indicted by a grand jury for campaign finance violations in relation to her 2017 reelection campaign. In May, Timothy Granison pleaded not guilty to drug and weapons charges in connection to a large scale local narcotics investigation.
The new charges announced on Friday were the result of a search warrant conducted by law enforcement during its months-long narcotics investigation. During the search of Warren’s home – which she shares with Granison and their 10-year-old daughter — a pistol and rifle were found.
After Granison’s initial arrest in May, Mayor Warren said that she had a separation agreement with Granison and had done nothing wrong. Naturally, Warren claimed the investigation was politically-motivated.
However the charges shake out, Lovely Warren’s days as Mayor are coming quickly to an end. In June she was defeated in the Democrat primary by challenger Malik Evans.
Thus far, neither city hall nor Mayor Warren’s attorney have commented on the new charges against her. All Warren has done by way of response is post a picture of her feet to Facebook with the message “I walk by faith.”
Warren, who was elected Mayor of Rochester in 2013, made national headlines over her mishandling of the March 2020 in-custody death of 41-year-old Daniel Prude.
In September the entire command staff for the Rochester Police Department, including Police Chief La’Ron Singletary, resigned in protest.
After Singletary announced his resignation, Mayor Warren fired him.
Singletary then filed a notice of claim to the city alleging that Mayor Warren had repeatedly told him to lie about the Prude case. The notice of claim also alleged defamation of character, a hostile work environment, and wrongful and retaliatory termination.
