On July 7, a Jeep collided with a stopped Tesla at a Nevada junction. Unexpectedly, the Tesla drove away from the accident site without exchanging insurance information.
The Jeep driver must have thought the person in the Tesla wanted to avoid interacting with anyone, particularly the police.
But that’s not what was happening. The Tesla took off on its own, and the driver struggled to regain control of the vehicle, which seemingly had a “mind of its own.”
The Jeep Wrangler careened around the bend and slammed into the front of a Tesla while it was stopped at a crossroads in Mount Charleston, Nevada. The bizarre reaction from the Tesla after the accident is captured on video from a camera connected to the vehicle.
Taking advantage of the malfunctioning Tesla, the hunt is now on for the Jeep driver, who also managed to flee the scene.
The video of the accident has gone viral. It shows a Tesla accelerating at a crossroads when a wild Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon slams into the electric vehicle. The Jeep appears to have sustained minor damage in the incident, but the Tesla hit the Wrangler before driving off.
Mount Charleston’s Deer Creek Road was the site of the crash that stunned the Las Vegas couple Radu and Angela Stefan.
Radu said it was like a horror movie; he was terrified. It was just going through that made the couple sick to their stomachs. He lost control of the Tesla, and it crashed just short of the precipice of the surrounding mountains in a terrifying incident captured on dash cam.
The Tesla driver explained that at one point, he was barely able to stop the car as it went towards the mountain.
The couple was taken aback when they saw the Jeep driver quickly drive away, leaving the Stefans without access to mobile service.
Some people stopped and contacted the Rangers.
Now, the Stefans say their repair cost might reach $20,000, and their insurance will not pay a dime.
The Nevada State Police are still looking into the incident, but they have not yet captured the identity of the insane motorist who fled the scene.
Now that their Tesla is in pieces on their driveway, the Stefans are crossing their fingers that someone knows more about the mysterious Jeep.
Following an inquiry into the system that started in August 2021, US auto-safety officials disclosed in April that the Tesla Autopilot technology had been associated with a minimum of thirteen fatal collisions.
