Russia-Based Websites Using AI to Spread Misinformation in the US, Probe Reveals

Since the 46th president of the United States entered the oval office in January of 2021, things have been tumultuous and chaotic in the international and domestic states of American affairs. At home, record levels of inflation brought about by trillions of dollars of reckless government spending promoted by Biden have decimated the American working class, devaluing the dollar and causing the already shrinking middle class to bear even heavier financial burdens. Millions of illegal migrants enter the southern border into the nation every year under the presidents watch, and crime levels in urban centers and suburbs have increased. Internationally, foreign adversaries of America like Russia and China have been emboldened. Following Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan in the summer of 2021 in which 13 servicemembers died, Russia invaded Ukraine in the winter of 2022 and remains stalemated in a bloody conflict. In the pacific, China remains aggressive and threatens U.S. dominance in the region, sending hundreds of planes over the island of Taiwan.

In October 2023, the terrorist  group Hamas invaded Israel and killed over 1,000 civilians. While some had the audacity to blame a conversation that Donald Trump had in 2017 with a Russian official for being impactful and a reason for the attack, not many in the mainstream media have criticized the incumbent President Joe Biden for his weak leadership. As international tensions continue to rise, America appears to be taking action in preparation for a major world war. Recently, the nation has made plans to likely deploy nuclear weapons to Great Britain for the first time in 15 years.

As physical tensions rise between Russia and the west, it is not just in physical military capability that conflict is being waged. A recent report by BBC claims that fake websites claiming to be local American media outlets are being run by Russian groups, creating fake internet stories talking about the upcoming 2024 election, spreading serious disinformation.
