Ron DeSantis Writes That He Knew Trump Endorsement Would Help Him

(PresidentialWire.com)- Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s forthcoming book, “The Courage to Be Free,” has effusive praise for Trump just as the two men seem to be headed for a showdown in the 2024 GOP presidential primary.

DeSantis credits former President Donald Trump for giving him “star power” and raising his profile ahead of his 2018 campaign for governor.

The governor said that he understood that Trump’s support would give him the visibility to Republican primary voters throughout the State of Florida.

He said since he denied the Russia connection conspiracy theory and backed the president’s legislative goals, he was able to build a positive rapport with him.

Trump has already begun his presidential campaign, and although DeSantis hasn’t made his intentions clear, many people anticipate him to do so in the coming months.

Trump has recently launched assaults on his erstwhile buddy DeSantis because of the former governor’s status as a potential rival to the former president for the party’s candidacy.

The governor of Florida has been dubbed “Ron DeSanctimonious” by Trump, who has also criticized his performance in office.

Trump remarked on Tuesday that Florida “was doing FANTASTIC long before Ron DeSantis came there” on his Truth Society site. People are leaving New York for Florida and other southern states not because of Governor DeSanctimonious but because of high taxes and rampant crime.

On the other hand, DeSantis has avoided Trump’s hostility and instead praised his outsider bid for the presidency in 2016.

Trump brings a certain “star power” to the campaigns,” as DeSantis puts it. DeSantis said that being a child of the ’80s and ’90s, he thinks most of his peers and himself would have said “Donald Trump” if they were asked to name a wealthy person.

Along with other Republican presidential aspirants like former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, DeSantis has praised Trump and avoided picking a fight with the previous president.
