Legendary musician Rod Stewart has explained his life philosophy as he faces his looming 80th birthday. The London-born singer said he realizes that his “days are numbered,” but he is not afraid because death is inevitable and comes for everyone in the end. Stewart is also wrapping up a 13-year stint in Las Vegas but hasn’t commented on where he may go next.
Although the “Forever Young” hit-maker says he is more aware of his health than ever, he still parties almost as much as he did in the 1980s. Although he concedes that he can no longer get drunk every night, he still knows how to party. “I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can,” he said.
Penny Lancaster, who married Mr. Stewart 17 years ago, has said she never expects her husband to retire, even at 80. She also said the singer, who has built an athletics track at home, works out at least three times per week and is highly motivated by the love of life and family. Lancaster explained that the younger generations among his relatives give him “strength and drive.”
Mr. Stewart partly attributes his energy and good health—despite continuing to party—to high water consumption. He even believes he may have another 15 years in him, and he is far from the only celebrity to place water at the center of his health routine.
Celebrities who believe water is the secret to a good life include Beyonce, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Aniston, and Jennifer Lopez. Medical experts agree and recommend as much as 3.7 liters per day for men and 2.7 liters for women. Doctors say that every aspect of the human body needs water to function, as it gets rid of waste, regulates temperature, lubricates joints, and protects healthy tissue. With moderate exercise and a nutritious diet, experts say water is critical to long life. The good news is that most beverages count toward your water intake – though experts warn to be mindful of sugar content and calories.
