Ray Epps’ Lawyer Tells Tucker Carlson To Issue A Retraction

(PresidentialWire.com)- Last Thursday, an attorney for Ray Epps sent a letter to Fox News demanding that Tucker Carlson issue a public retraction for his “false and defamatory statements” that Epps was a government plant who instigated the mob during the January 6 riot at the Capitol, the New York Times reported.

In his letter to Fox News, attorney Michael Teter also demanded a “formal on-air apology” from others at Fox News for the “lies” they also spread about Epps.

Teter accused Tucker Carlson of an “assault on the truth,” arguing that the Fox News host’s “fanciful notions” about Epps’s involvement in the Capitol riot were “demonstrably” and provably false.

Teter argued that the recent revelations stemming from Dominion Voting System’s defamation suit against Fox News are possibly behind the network’s decision to allow “falsehoods” about Epps to continue. He writes that Fox fearing it will lose viewers “by telling them the truth” is no defense against defamation.

In presenting clips from the surveillance footage from the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Carlson featured footage that showed the Epps at the Capitol long after he claimed to have left in his testimony before the January 6 select committee.

In his letter, Teter derisively pointed out that Tucker Carlson simultaneously espoused the view that those mobbing the Capitol were “akin to peaceful tourists” while at the same time, he accused Epps of provoking the riot.

Teter is requesting that Fox News and Tucker Carlson confirm in writing that they will comply with his demands by March 31.

He is also asking Fox News to preserve any communications related to the network’s arrangement with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy as well as any communications Carlson or Fox may have had with Revolver News owner Darren Beattie, who initially published reports about Ray Epps’s involvement in the January 6 riots.
