(PresidentialWire.com)- Yet another prominent politician has expressed extreme concern over Democrat Joe Biden’s apparent choice to lead the Health and Human Services as its secretary.
On Monday, Republican Senator Rand Paul said Xavier Becerra, who is currently the attorney general of California, is too “radical” to serve in the position. Paul told Fox News on Monday that:
“I’m concerned about the reports that say that he’s been a champion for late-term abortion and at the time of birth abortion, and that’s outside the norm.”
Paul, from Kentucky, pointed out that man people who support abortion don’t go nearly as far as what Becerra apparently believes about it. He continued:
“Even pro-choice people a lot of times will say they believe in some restrictions, but to believe in sort of complete, unlimited abortion until the time of birth or after, I think is something that’s a very radical position, and I would hate to have him in charge of trying to dispense government monies towards that kind of policy.
“So, we’ll look long and hard and I’ll try to keep an open mind, but my first impression of what I’m hearing about him is that he may be way outside the mainstream of what anybody in Kentucky would think is right.”
Becerra is a former congressman, and holds a top position in the California government. However, he has no medical background whatsoever and has never served at HHS. He’s also never served as the head of a state or a large organization.
Some media outlets have suggested that Biden chose Becerra not for his qualifications — because apparently he doesn’t have many — but because of his stance on abortion.
In 2017, Becerra filed 15 felony charges against David Daleiden, who was working to uncover the involvement of Planned Parenthood in harvesting then marketing then selling body parts that came from aborted babies to various biotech companies.
All these facts have resulted in many other politicians saying they wouldn’t be able to vote for Becerra’s appointment. As Republican Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton tweeted:
“Xavier Becerra spent his career attacking pro-life Americans and tried to force crisis pregnancy centers to advertise abortions. He’s been a disaster in California and he is unqualified to lead HHS.”
He sent another tweet that read:
“Xavier Becerra’s lockdowns in California have been a disaster. Liberal politicians dine on caviar at the French Laundry while working Californians are locked down and playgrounds are closed. Now, Joe Biden apparently wants California’s lockdowns for the whole country.”
Texas Representative agreed, tweeting that Becerra was the “Worst possible cabinet choice.” He even retweeted a message that was posted by Erielle Davidson, a senior policy analyst at The Jewish Institute for National Security of America, that said, sarcastically:
“Yes, California is run so well. Let’s make one of their Senators our VP and their AG our Health and Human Services Secretary. Good idea. Spread the mismanagement everywhere.”
Becerra is sure to be in for a fight, if he were indeed Biden’s nominee for the HHS secretary.
