A new book has revealed that the beloved Queen Elizabeth II was convinced that Donald Trump had an “arrangement” with his wife Melania, citing how she could never wrap her head around why Mrs. Trump stuck around in the marriage.
Apparently, when British citizens protested the Trumps’ visit in 2018 with a massive “Trump Baby” balloon, they were not the only ones who had a less-than-favorable view on the politician who was serving his first term in office at the time. Despite her reputation for being the epitome of politeness and keeping her personal opinions about people to herself, the queen’s thoughts on Trump were revealed in a segment of an upcoming book by Craig Brown.
According to the author, Queen Elizabeth told a separate guest that she had over for lunch—following a visit from Trump—that she thought he was “very rude.” Specifically, the late monarch was not a fan of how he kept “looking over her shoulder” in a manner that indicated he found people other than the one with whom he was engaging to be “more interesting.”
Brown also said that Queen Elizabeth “believed” that the president “must have an arrangement” with his wife, saying, “why else would she remain married to him?” The juicy scoop from the queen attracted a response from Trump’s campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, who described the opinion as “fake news.”
He also accused the book segment of seeking to “use” the “salacious fabrications” to make a profit on a manuscript that he said should be stored in the “bargain bin” of a bookstore’s “fiction section.”
Melania’s lack of presence in her husband’s political campaigns has raised questions about their relationship. The last time she was seen in a public setting was at Mar-a-Lago, on Easter Sunday. She was there for lunch with Barron, the one child she shares with Trump. Aside from that, she has barely been seen at campaign events or in the many court appearances he has had.
Previously, Melania told people to “stay tuned” about whether she would be on the campaign trail with her husband before Election Day. Last year, Trump described his wife as a “great,” “confident,” and “private person” who will “be out there” when the time is “appropriate.”
