(PresidentialWire.com)- In a move that infuriated the far-left, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is backing Texas Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar in his run-off race against Democrat Jessica Cisneros, a far-left progressive endorsed by Squad member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Progressives are furious that Pelosi would back one of the remaining pro-life Democrats in the House over their preferred candidate. And during her weekly press briefing on Thursday, activists pretending to be reporters demanded to know why, with the Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe, Pelosi would endorse a pro-life Democrat over the far-Left, pro-abortion Cisneros, especially given Cuellar’s possible ethics problems.
Calling Cuellar a “valued member of our caucus,” Pelosi dismissed the ethics issues, noting that the FBI said Cuellar is not under investigation.
But it isn’t his “ethics issues” reporters find most troubling. It’s that Henry Cuellar was the only Democrat member of the House to vote against the radical “Women’s Health Protect Act” that would have legalized abortion nationwide through all nine months of pregnancy.
When asked about Cuellar’s pro-life position, Pelosi explained that while he isn’t pro-choice, the Democrats didn’t need his vote on the radical abortion bill, noting that the bill passed without him.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi re-affirms support for Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), the last anti-abortion Democrat in the House, ahead of his May 24th runoff:

The bottom line is obvious. Pelosi may be losing her grip on reality, but she’s still savvy enough to understand that the far-left “progressive” politics of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be a winning message in deep-blue New York City, but in Texas, it is a losing proposition.
This is why Pelosi, along with Democrat Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, and Majority Whip James Clyburn have campaigned for Cuellar. The Democrat leadership knows that Cisneros beating Cuellar in the run-off increases the chance of a Republican winning the seat.
