(PresidentialWire.com)- Last week, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi decided to do a little armchair diagnosis of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell last Tuesday, Pelosi claimed to have spoken with heads of state who met with Putin who believe the Russian president was suffering from some health issue like cancer or “brain fog” as a result of COVID-19, and that might be behind his decision to invade Ukraine.
She also suggested that Putin might have invaded Ukraine for no other reason than he’s a “complete raging bully.”
Pelosi is asked to speculate about whats going on with Putin:
"Some people say he has cancer, and some people say brain fog from COVID. Other people just think he's a complete raging bully. But whatever it is, the people of Ukraine are paying the price for it." pic.twitter.com/LVCxnaKtX0

Or, perhaps Putin invaded Ukraine after warning NATO for years that its expansion into countries bordering Russia is a bridge too far.
Why is it people in Washington are unwilling to point out that Putin has long maintained his opposition to NATO’s eastward expansion? Stating that fact does make someone is a “Putin apologist.”
It is possible to state that fact without justifying Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
But nuance doesn’t exist in Washington DC where the consensus is Russia is an unrepentant, thoroughly evil enemy that America will eventually have to fight.
Nobody there is willing to acknowledge Putin’s national security concerns over having NATO members right smack on Russia’s border.
Instead, they twist themselves into pretzels to come up with an alternative reason like “Putin’s insane” or “Putin must be sick” or “Putin is a ‘complete raging bully.’”
Pelosi isn’t the only one suggesting the “Putin is sick” theory.
Lawmakers, foreign policy “experts,” and even this White House have floated the theory that Putin’s isolation during the pandemic has affected his mental health, including Republican Senator Marco Rubio and White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
For years, Putin has warned NATO that expanding to Russia’s border was a red line.
NATO continued its expansion.
And Putin responded.
Rather than connect the dots, the best America’s foreign policy “elite” can come up with is, “There must be some health issue making Putin act this way.”
