Pelosi Claims Trump Voters Chose “Whiteness” Over Democracy

(PresidentialWire)- If you voted for Republican Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, you chose your “whiteness over democracy.”

Those were the words House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered via online meeting with her constituents in San Francisco over the weekend. In the comments that The Hill obtained, Pelosi tied deaths from the coronavirus among black people to the breach at the U.S. Capitol last week.

She said:

“When that assault was taking place on the Capitol, 3,865 people in our country died of the coronavirus, many of them people of color because of the injustice of it all. The next day, on Thursday, 4,000 people died of the coronavirus. Why? Because decisions were made at the highest level, months before in the Oval Office, of denial, distortion, delay, calling it a ‘hoax.'”

She continued lambasting the president and all of his supporters, saying they chose their race over what she feels is right for the country. In referencing Saturday’s Feast of the Epiphany, she said:

“I thought it was going to be an epiphany for those who were in opposition of our democracy to see the light. Instead, it was an epiphany for the world to see that there are people in our country, led by this President, for the moment, who have chosen their whiteness over democracy. That’s what this is about.

“Not only the complicity, the instigation of the President of the United States, must and will be addressed. It’s only a number of days now before we inaugurate a new President.”

Democrats are very quick to point to racism as a reason for people’s actions. Pelosi here is saying that people who voted for Trump must be racist; they couldn’t possibly value the principles of the Trump administration or the good he’s done for the country.

Leading up to the election, Democrat Joe Biden told a radio station in New York City that if black voters hadn’t made up their mind yet between him and Trump, then those voters must not really be black.

Following the insurrection at the Capitol last week, Biden told the Washington Post:

“You can’t tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesters yesterday they wouldn’t have been treated very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol. We all know that is true. And it is totally unacceptable. Totally unacceptable. The American people saw it in plain view.”

For her part, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris recorded a video and posted it to Twitter in which she discussed a “justice system that is experienced differently whether you’re white or black.”

That led Ben Shapiro a New York Times best-selling author and host of a conservative podcast, to criticize the incoming administration for their divisive words. He tweeted:

“Biden and Harris could have provided a moment of unity: everyone of good conscience deplores the riot in the Capitol. Instead, both decided to parrot the woke bulls*** that the police treated the rioters with kid gloves, and would have murdered them en masse were they BLM (Black Lives Matter).

“That’s categorical nonsense. Over the summer, BLM rioters ran roughshod through NYC, DC, LA, Chicago, and other major cities — and streets were renamed after BLM, police departments defunded, corporate brands cheered them, and politicians marched in solidarity.”
