NBC Suspends Reporter Who Attacked Elon Musk

(Presidentialwire.com)- NBC suspended Ben Collins from reporting on Elon Musk at NBC and MSNBC after he repeatedly attacked the chief twit on Twitter, according to The New York Post. The bosses at NBC reportedly told Collins that his tweets lambasting the billionaire were not editorially appropriate.

In one of his many comments, Collins claimed that Musk was trying to purposefully destroy Twitter.

Collins, who has more than 380,000 followers, was allegedly warned about his opinionated tweeting several times, a source told The Post, noting that he was reminded of the journalistic guidelines that prohibit a reporter from expressing his personal views on a matter.

While he is suspended, Collins will not be allowed to report on Twitter or Musk on the NBC or MSNBC websites or social media handles. However, is still employed at the network and has been reporting on Musk’s bans of journalists after sharing information about his location.

Musk suspended eight prominent journalists from Twitter alleging that they violated the terms of service. The journalists representing CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and others include, Donie O’Sullivan, Ryan Mac, Drew Harwell, Micah Lee, Steve Herman, Matt Binder, Keith Olbermann, and Aaron Rupa, according to American Pigeon.

Musk came under fire from the left who saw the suspensions as censorship of political dissent, but he disputed these claims saying that the tweets put him and his family in immediate danger. Critics of the billionaire have claimed that he cannot be a “free speech absolutist” and suspend journalists; however, there is no record of Musk ever calling himself a “free speech absolutist.”

CNN is reportedly “reevaluating their relationship with Twitter” following the controversy.

“The impulsive and unjustified suspension of a number of reporters, including CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, is concerning but not surprising,” the CNN statement read, noting that the platform is unstable and volatile.
