After being accused of sexual harassment, a toxic work environment, and pressing three former backup dancers to participate in sex performances, Lizzo has lost over 220,000 followers on Instagram.
After hearing that Grammy-winning artist, Big Grrrl Big Touring, and dance captain Shirlene Quigley were being sued by former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, her fan base has soured a bit on her.
Since the lawsuit was filed on August 1, Social Blade reports that Lizzo’s Instagram following has dropped by 219,570 people. As of Thursday morning, the “About Damn Time” singer had lost roughly 170,000 Instagram followers due to the disturbing allegations.
Despite the controversy, Melissa Jefferson (stage name Lizzo) still has 13.3 million followers on her official Instagram account (@lizzobeeating).
According to the lawsuit filed by Davis, Williams, and Rodriguez, Lizzo allegedly invited cast members to a nude night out in Amsterdam in February. The case claimed that Lizzo tricked dancers into coming to a second concert, forcing them to touch and interact with naked performers. This lawsuit seeks general and special damages, punitive damages, and lawyers’ expenses on behalf of the former dancers.
In a lengthy statement released to social media on Thursday, the “Juice” singer addressed the bombshell charges, calling them “false” and “unbelievable.” She described the last several days as very trying and disheartening.
She added that it was not her desire to make anybody feel uneasy, but she is occasionally compelled to “make hard decisions.” She is very committed to her art and always gives 110% throughout her performances.
Fans of the “Rumors” singer have taken to the internet to discuss whether or not the accusations they’ve heard about her are genuine, especially when Beyoncé seemed to leave out Lizzo’s name during a performance of “Break My Soul.” Fans claimed that Beyoncé “canceled” Lizzo after the “Single Ladies” singer allegedly switched out Lizzo’s name in the remix for that of Erykah Badu after the revelation of the legal dispute.
