Harris’s Gun Ownership Claim Sparks Debate
Vice President Kamala Harris recently thrust herself into the center of the gun rights debate by announcing her gun ownership during a political event. The declaration, seemingly aimed at presenting the Democratic ticket as supportive of the Second Amendment, has instead ignited a firestorm of controversy, particularly among female gun owners.
During a debate, Harris emphatically stated, “This business about taking everyone’s guns away. [Gov.] Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We’re not taking anybody’s guns away, so stop with the continuous lying about this stuff.”
The Vice President’s campaign later confirmed that she owns a handgun, which is securely locked up.

But people don’t believe her.
Skepticism Among Female Gun Owners
Despite Harris’s attempt to align herself with gun owners, her declaration has been met with significant skepticism, particularly from women who own firearms. Many view her announcement as a political ploy rather than a genuine expression of support for gun rights.
“When Kamala Harris started talking about owning a Glock, I felt nothing. We all realize that it’s pandering and virtue signaling to the right, and she’s hoping that we’re too dumb not to realize that she is completely anti-gun,” Amara Barnes, the founder of Women Gun Owners Association of America, said.
This sentiment is echoed by firearms instructor Jane Milhans, who questioned Harris’s commitment to gun rights.
“I do not believe that she is a gun owner that practices and supports our right to protect ourselves,” Milhans stated.
These are serious people. Unlike Harris.
The skepticism surrounding Harris’s gun ownership claim is fueled by her well-documented history of supporting gun control measures. Her campaign advocates for banning assault weapons, implementing universal background checks, and enacting red flag laws, all under the umbrella of “commonsense gun safety laws.”
“We, who believe that every person should have the freedom to live safe from the terror of gun violence, will finally pass red flag laws, universal background checks, and an assault weapons ban,” Harris recently said.
Furthermore, Harris has previously pledged to use executive orders for gun control if Congress failed to act and has supported mandatory gun buyback programs. These stances have led many gun rights advocates to question the sincerity of her recent pro-gun ownership statements.
So how can she be a gun owner while advocating these extreme ideas?
What do you think – is she lying?
