(PresidentialWire.com)- The vice president defended abortion as being a fundamental right for American liberty during an interview with Lightyear movie star Keke Palmer at the 28th ESSENSE Fest of Culture. Palmer, who conducted the interview, plays Izzy Hawthorne in the movie who shares a same-sex kiss with another character.
You might have seen clips surfacing of the New Orleans event as criticism arose over the blatant misspelling of Louisiana in the background.
During the event, Harris, between her cackles awkward, cringey laughing, told her supporters to stay engaged in politics and not to become disheartened over the Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Dobbs v. Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade. As a result of the landmark decision, abortion is now an issue that belongs to the states as it is no longer erroneously considered a constitutional right.
Harris called the decision “outrageous,” making the claim that the decision means that the federal government can come into a woman’s home and tell her what to do with her body—sort of like when the federal government came into everyone’s home and told them what to do with vaccines?
She then argued that killing babies is a fundamental American right. “We have to recognize we’re a nation that was founded on certain principles that are—that are grounded in the concept of freedom and liberty,” she said.
Harris also compared abortion to slavery, claiming that the federal government once tried to “claim ownership over human bodies,” which is apparently what is happening today with abortion.
Most Americans are not entirely phased by the Roe v. Wade as Republicans continue to hold a lead in the generic congressional ballot that polls prospective voters, although that lead has fluctuated.
Ironically, the vice president claimed that anything that affects children is important to both her and the president; however, Harris has still not visited the Southern border where over a million of illegal immigrants, including children, have crossed since the start of the Biden presidency.
After a recent poll, the vice president is at a 50% disapproval rating compared with Biden’s 54%.
