Gov. DeSantis Appeals Court Ruling Against Ban On School Mask Mandates

(PresidentialWire.com)- Popular Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has officially appealed a court ruling against his ban on school mask mandates. As part of the governor’s continued fight to defend the rights of parents to decide what is best for their children, DeSantis announced last week that he is appealing a ruling from a judge that went against his order that banned public schools from forcing children to wear masks.

The appeal means that the ruling has been put on hold, resulting in the original ban on school mask mandates being reinstated. It will now go to a higher court to decide whether Governor DeSantis has the authority to make such an order, which his office says that he does.

It comes after a lawsuit was filed by concerned Florida parents who say that the virus still poses a risk to children under the age of 12, despite scientists and public health officials the world over admitting from even the very early days of the pandemic that children are the least vulnerable to the virus.

DeSantis has argued that the best policy is to allow parents to decide whether or not their children should wear masks. It means that parents who are scared about their children contracting the virus – even though nearly all children who contract it experience no symptoms – will still be able to ask their children to wear their masks in school.

In July, DeSantis announced his new order and said that neither bureaucrats in Washington or local authorities should be able to override the decision of parents.

DeSantis’ office said that they expect the appeal to be heard soon and for a final ruling to be made within the next month.
