Fox News Ratings Are Finally Public

Fox News’ lead as the most-watched cable news network has held, but by a razor’s edge.

The week of May 15 was successful for the network, with 1.41 million viewers overall (Third among all basic cable networks.)

Fox News rose two spots to No. 3 in the whole-day demo (129,000 viewers) despite falling two spots to No. 14 in the primetime demo (136,000).

Compared to the week of May 8, Fox News lost -1% of its total audience in primetime, -4% of its total audience in the daytime, -3% of its adult 25-54 audience in primetime, and -6% of its adult 25-54 audience in the daytime.

FNC’s primetime audience was down -38% from the previous week and down a stunning -61% from the previous week among adults 25-54.

But it’s good enough to still claim the top spot, despite the downfall of the ratings after Fox fired its most successful host of all time, Tucker Carlson.

Despite their shakeup, Fox News has been the most-watched cable news network for 118 consecutive weeks.

Fox’s major rival right now is MSNBC.

After TNT and ESPN, which are airing the NBA Playoffs, and Fox News, it has the fourth-highest prime-time viewership among basic cable networks (1.19 million). Regarding total day viewers (715,000), it is the third most popular basic cable network, behind only Fox News and ESPN.

Meanwhile, MSNBC was No. 12 in the whole-day demo (83,000 viewers), down from No. 11 the previous week, and No. 19 in the primetime demo (120,000 viewers), up from No. 20.

The past two weeks have been a roller coaster for CNN. The network’s ratings took a nosedive this past week after a surge the previous week, spurred by the Trump town hall. The week of May 15 was CNN’s lowest nighttime viewing since May 2014, with an average of 371,000 viewers. This ranked CNN No. 18 among all basic cable channels.

During primetime, Newsmax pulled in an average of 308,000 people, placing it at No. 24 on basic cable, while during the day, it averaged 188,000 viewers, ranking it at No. 23.
