Fox News Makes New Deal With Tucker Carlson

( If you’re a subscriber to FOX Nation, prepare to see a lot more of primetime host Tucker Carlson.

On Wednesday, the on-demand streaming service that is subscription based, announced a multi-year deal with Carlson. The host will provide flagship content for Fox’s digital platform.

As part of the deal, Carlson will sit as the lead of a new video podcast. He’ll also host a series of in-depth specials that will be called “Tucker Carlson Originals.” In addition, he will continue hosting his current show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” which airs at 8 p.m. ET every weeknight.

Starting in April, three new episodes of the video podcast will be released every week. The show will feature interviews with newsmakers and also discussions of all the major issues that are shaping America.

April will also see the debut of “Tucker Carlson originals,” which will continue on a monthly basis. Each episode of that show will explore a single topic much deeper than is typically done during a live TV show.

Both of these new programs will only be available on FOX News Media’s subscription service, FOX Nation.

When he made the announcement Wednesday, FOX Nation’s President Jason Klarman said:

“As we continue to expand and evolve as a service, adding exclusive content from Tucker Carlson will make FOX Nation a must-have service for his most passionate fans.”

For his part, Carlson said:

“This is my 12th year at FOX News, and I’ve never been more grateful to be here. As other media outlets fall silent or fall in line, FOX News Media’s management has redoubled its commitment to honesty and freedom of speech. I consider that heroic at a time like this.”

The new content that will be produced on FOX Nation will be led by Justin Wells, the same senior executive producer who leads the “Tucker Carlson Tonight” show. During the announcement, Wells said:

“We have a close relationship with our viewers. We’re excited to continue and expand that relationship on FOX Nation. We have far more stories to tell than we can air in our nightly format. We see this as a welcome expansion of what we’re already doing.”

Carlson first joined FOX News Channel back in 2009. He was a political contributor then. Then, in 2012, he was made a co-host of FOX & Friends Weekend. Four years later, in 2016, Carlson was named the host of the new Tucker Carlson Tonight.

He also provided analysis during the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, as well as the midterm elections, for other programs.

Today, Tucker Carlson Tonight is one of the most-watched shows in the history of cable news. In January, the TV program saw an average of 3.6 million viewers — which surpassed both MSNBC and CNN in overall viewers by double digits.

The show also reached the highest monthly viewership of any single cable news program in history, hitting 5.4 million viewers. For 46 straight months, the program has stayed number one in the 8 p.m. time slot.
