(PresidentialWire.com)- Remember the story of the men who plotted to kidnap far-left Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer?
Well, the story just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
Lawyers representing the five men charged in the plot have argued that the defendants “had no desire whatsoever to kidnap anyone” and that they have evidence that the FBI used confidential informants to conceive and control every aspect of the plot – pulling innocent people into the plot I the process.
In other words, the men involved in the plot didn’t plan it – the FBI did.
In defense motions filed on Christmas Day and the following Wednesday, lawyers argue that the five defendants, members of anti-government organizations Wolverine Watchmen and Three Percenters, were tricked and entrapped into being a part of a plan cooked up by FBI agents.
If true, it means that the federal government worked to entrap members of so-called “far-right” groups in a plot that would discredit their movement…and any Republican who is even loosely associated with them.
In early December, prosecutors said that they would not be seeking testimony from the three FBI agents who were connected to the investigation, even after they were accused of personal and professional misconduct. An undercover informant involved in the case was also charged with fraud in a different case in Wisconsin.
There are many questions surrounding this case, which begs the question…why wouldn’t prosecutors want to hear from the FBI agents who worked this case? Especially when they are being accused of entrapping people?
We’ll report back when there is more news on this case.
