(PresidentialWire.com)- Bad polls are plaguing President Donald Trump…but not everybody believes them. At this point in the campaign in 2016, former First Lady Hillary Clinton was polling steadily above then-candidate Trump. In fact, Clinton was considered the favorite to win the election right up until the moment he won.
So it may not be surprising to some to learn that presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has increased his lead over President Donald Trump in Wisconsin, a key battleground state that will help determine the result of the 2020 presidential election.
According to a Marquette University Poll, Joe Biden maintains 49% support among likely voters in the state. President Donald Trump has secured some 41% of the vote. Last month, the same poll from Marquette University saw Biden at 46% and President Trump at just 43%. It means Biden’s lead has gotten bigger in the last four weeks, even as Democrat-siding extremists have taken to the streets, trashed buildings, and even burned down churches.
If the poll is real, and if it did not oversample Democrats, it is worrying news for President Trump.
Biden has polled ahead of President Trump in Wisconsin for some time. Take a look at this insufferably smug MSNBC report on Morning Joe from September last year.
So what does this mean? Worst case scenario for Trump, it means he’s likely to lose in November. Best case scenario…the polls are just wrong. Not only did the polls oversample Democrats last time, they also cannot account for the “shy Trump” vote.
These are the people who will vote for President Trump in November, but who do not want to tell pollsters that they will do so. The emboldening of violent left-wing groups on the streets, encouraged by the Democrats, may be more reason for people to want to stay quiet about their support for Trump. If this is happening, then it means the Wisconsin poll is wrong, and potentially every other poll published in this campaign.
The latest poll was taken between June 14 and 18, and has a margin of error of 4.3 percentage points. At best, that stills leaves a 4% gap between Trump and Biden, with Biden leading.
Could the polls really be right this time? Could Biden really beat Trump?
