After storming onto the field during Wednesday’s Congressional Baseball Game, eight climate demonstrators were apprehended.
The demonstrators were apprehended by federal agents after being tackled by them; they are now facing charges, namely interfering with an officer of the United States Capitol Police, as stated by the authorities.
Police moved swiftly to apprehend eight protesters who attempted to gather on the field. Eight individuals are facing federal charges related to interference with a member of the U.S. Capitol Police, as outlined in 2 U.S.C. § 1966.
An organization calling itself a youth-led group allegedly planned the demonstration. Climate Defiance claimed responsibility for the event and made its intentions known days before the game.
Members were reportedly demonstrating before the start of the game. More than six demonstrators, clad in END FOSSIL FUELS T-shirts, leaped the barrier and made their way onto the field in the middle of the second inning. Capitol Police had prior knowledge of the event since the gang had divulged its intentions.
It had been brought to their attention before the charity game that there would be protesters. In a statement on X, Capitol police said that this was addressed at planning sessions and included in their complete action plan to guarantee a rapid response with sufficient resources.
Attendees’ chants of “USA” overpowered the demonstrators’ voices.
Protesters at the game were not limited to the environment group. Roughly twelve pro-Palestinian demonstrators erupted in cries before the first pitch, denouncing the United States’ backing of Israel in the ongoing battle in Gaza against Hamas.
The protest started during the colors ceremony and carried over into the national song, which led to a boisterous counter-chant of “USA” that began in the Republican portion of the stadium and eventually reached every corner.

The LGBTQ+ group is socially and legally oppressed by Palestinians, even as they demand the destruction of Israel.
Activists also disrupted the yearly Holocaust memorial at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
