The Smoke and Mirrors of Mainstream Media
Well, folks, it looks like the mainstream media is at it again, this time with CBS’s “60 Minutes” taking center stage in a scandal that’s got conservatives’ blood boiling. The once-respected news program is now scrambling to explain why they apparently decided to play fast and loose with Vice President Kamala Harris’s words in a recent interview. It’s almost as if they thought we wouldn’t notice their little magic trick with the editing room scissors.
The controversy erupted when sharp-eyed viewers noticed something fishy about Harris’s responses, particularly when it came to the touchy subject of U.S. financial support for Israel. It seems “60 Minutes” thought it’d be a grand idea to alter her words, presumably to make her sound less like… well, Kamala Harris. The result? A firestorm of criticism that’s left CBS News with more egg on its face than a short-order cook on a busy Sunday morning.

CBS’s Weak Defense: “Nothing to See Here, Folks!”
In a move that surprised absolutely no one, CBS News came out swinging… with a wet noodle. Their defense? “60 Minutes gave an excerpt of our interview to Face the Nation that used a longer section of her answer than that on 60 Minutes. Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response.” Oh, well, that clears everything up, doesn’t it? I’m sure we can all go home now, nothing to see here!
But wait, there’s more! In a stunning display of “whataboutism,” CBS couldn’t resist taking a swipe at former President Trump: “Remember, Mr. Trump pulled out of his interview with 60 Minutes and the vice president participated.” Well, gee willikers, CBS, I guess that makes it all okay then! Who needs journalistic integrity when you can just point fingers at the other guy?
While CBS was busy trying to put out this dumpster fire with gasoline, the Trump campaign didn’t mince words. They accused “60 Minutes” of editing Harris’s response to make her appear more coherent. Now, I’m no expert, but when you’re accused of making Kamala Harris sound more coherent, you know you’ve really stepped in it.
And let’s not forget the cherry on top of this journalistic sundae: CBS News is flat-out refusing to release the full interview or transcript. Because nothing says “we have nothing to hide” quite like hiding everything, right? It’s almost as if they’re afraid we might see something they don’t want us to see. But that couldn’t possibly be the case, could it?
It’s high time we demanded better from our news sources. We deserve the truth, not some watered-down, sanitized version that fits neatly into a predetermined narrative. Until then, keep your eyes open, your BS detectors on high, and remember: just because it’s on TV doesn’t mean it’s the whole truth.
