(PresidentialWire.com)- Former President Donald Trump is often maligned for being an egotist, but the truth is that he is more than willing to admit when he made a mistake. Certainly more willing than President Joe Biden, who gifted millions of dollars of military equipment to the Taliban and left thousands of Americans stranded and in danger in the country.
On Wednesday, the former president appeared on “Greg Kelly Reports” on Newsmax TV, talking about General Mark Milley, who served as Trump’s chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and has continued in that role under President Joe Biden.
He is a U.S. Army general and has been widely criticized following his horrific overseeing of the Afghanistan withdrawal with President Joe Biden. He claimed this week that there was “no evidence” that Afghanistan was going to collapse as quickly as it did, and that there was no way for the White House to know it would be so bad.
“Nothing I saw indicated a collapse of this government in 11 days,” he told a press conference, initiating widespread backlash.
Trump told Kelly that he had realized he’d hired a “loser: back when Milley apologized for walking with former President Donald Trump to a church that was set on fire by far-left rioters in Washington, D.C. At the time, the former president was wrongly accused of encouraging local law enforcement and the military to tear gas non-violent protesters, in order to appear in front of the church holding a Bible.
Since Trump left office, those claims were proven untrue by an independent investigation.
When asked about that walk, and why he hired Milley, he explained that he came recommended by a number of people that he thought were “terrible.” He admitted that he then decided to ask the opinion of James Mattis, a retired U.S. Marine Corps four-star general and former Secretary of Defense under the. Trump administration.
Trump said he figured that given he thought so little of Mattis, and that Mattis did not like Milley, he must be a good hire.
The former president then admitted he was wrong.
Do you think there’s any possibility that Biden might admit he was wrong? Just asking…
On the walk, and Milley’s apology to the radical left who criticized him for walking to the historic church that Democrat voters had attempted to burn down, Trump said he realized he had “hired a loser” as soon as he heard about it.
