(PresidentialWire.com)- A former advisor to New York’s disgraced ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo was fatally struck and killed by a passing vehicle after a Lyft driver kicked his party out of the car in the middle of the highway.
Sidney Wolf, 43, and five others were taking a Lyft early last Sunday morning when, after an unspecified argument, the Lyft driver stopped in the left lane of Coastal Highway (Rte 1) in Dewey Beach, Delaware, and told his passengers to get out of the car.
According to Delaware State Police, Wolf exited the vehicle on the right and was standing in the roadway when the Toyota following behind the Lyft car switched to the right lane to get around the stopped car. As it passed the Lyft vehicle, the Toyota stuck Wolf and killed him.
The other five Lyft passengers were unharmed and the driver that struck Wolf remained at the scene until police arrived.
According to Delaware State Police, the Lyft driver has been cooperating with the investigation.
A spokesperson for the Delaware State Police said no charges have been filed as yet and the names of those involved in the incident will not be released to the public unless charges are filed.
Whether or not the Lyft driver faces charges for dumping his passengers into the street may not be known for months. But one thing is certain. He will no longer be permitted to drive for Lyft.
A Lyft spokesperson said the company is “heartbroken” over Wolf’s death and has reached out to his family to offer its support. The company said the driver has been “permanently removed” and added that it is cooperating with the police in their investigation.
Wolf had been celebrating a college friend’s birthday with a “beach weekend” in Delaware when he was killed.
From 2019 to 2021, Wolf served as a senior policy advisor to then-Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The former governor posted a link to the GoFundMe page on Twitter to help raise money for Wolf’s family.
Wolf is survived by his wife Lindsey Greenbaum Wolf and their two daughters.
