(PresidentialWire.com)- It is well documented at this point that university professors are overwhelmingly left wing, but the idea of a professor defending the murder of a political opponent would seem far-fetched in any other year than 2020.
A history professor from the University of Rhode Island recently did exactly that, writing about the murder of a supporter of President Trump by Antifa extremist Michael Reinoehl on the streets of Portland and suggesting that it was, morally, the right thing to do.
“Reinoehl killed a fascist,” Professor Erik Loomis said. “I see nothing wrong with it, at least from a moral perspective.”
Reinoehl, who shot Trump supporter Aaron ‘Jay’ Danielson after someone was heard shouting “We got a Trump supporter here,” fled Portland after the incident. On the same day that he did an interview with far-left VICE Magazine claiming that he was acting in self-defense, a warrant was put out for his arrest. When officers arrived to arrest the man, he attempted to attack the officers and they shot him dead.
Professor Loomis, who appears to suggest that Trump supporters are by nature fascists, is wrong to suggest that this was anything other than cold-blooded murder. The District Attorney of Portland already said that Reinoehl “appeared to be targeting the victim prior to the shooting.” It appeared that the Antifa extremist deliberately armed himself before attending the Portland riots, and according to the DA, “hide in a parking garage, waiting for Aaron ‘Jay’ Danielson, 39, and another Patriot Prayer member.”
Danielson was a member of the populist right-wing conservative group, Patriot Prayer. While the group may be considered boisterous and unpleasant by some, the founders and leaders of the organization have repeatedly condemned white supremacy and neo-Nazis.
White supremacists tend not to condemn white supremacy.
Professor Erik Loomis wrote a blog post about the incident, in which he defended murderer Michael Reinoehl.
“Michael Reinoehl is the guy who killed the fascist in Portland last week,” he claimed, without providing evidence that Danielson was a fascist. “He admitted it and said he was scared the cops would kill him. Well, now the cops have killed him. I am extremely anti-conspiracy theory. But it’s not a conspiracy theory at this point in time to wonder if the cops simply murdered him, The police is shot through with fascists from stem to stern.”
Loomis provided no evidence to prove the conspiracy theory that American police departments are “shot through with fascists.”
When someone in the comments challenged Loomis, saying, “Erik, he shot and killed a guy,” that’s when Loomis made the comment.
“Reinoehl killed a fascist. I see nothing wrong with it, at least from a moral perspective,” he said.
Does that mean every other Trump supporter should be killed, for moral reasons? Isn’t that what that means?
