(PresidentialWire.com)- China is reportedly planning on blocking any Western politician who has threatened a diplomatic boycott of the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics from entering the country to watch the games.
It comes after President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson discussed the possibility of limiting their official presence at the games over Chinas ongoing human rights abuses, including the use of slave labor.
Not only has China not invited any Americans to attend the Winter Games, but the country has also confirmed that it has no plans to invite large numbers of foreign guests more generally citing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus…which is kind of rich, given that China is where the virus came from.
The Global Times, a propaganda mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party, confirmed the plans (or lack of plans) this week and cited an anonymous person who is familiar with the plans of the committee organizing the games in the country.
The Biden administration has faced intense pressure from both sides of the aisle, both Democrat and Republican, to boycott the games over the ongoing abuse of Uyghur Muslims in the country and other ethnic minorities. Forced labor camps are being widely used in several provinces in the country to assist with the country’s efforts to provide cheap manufacturing services.
Zhao Lijian, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry , told a press conference on Friday that some 1,528 applications have been received from the United States Olympic Committee, which is the organization responsible for submitting the names of American athletes, politicians, and other officials to attend the games. Zhao did not, however, say whether or not they would be attending.
Our guess is…they won’t.
Oh, but Russian President Vladimir Putin is going. Go figure.
