Chicago Mayor Blames NEIGHBORING STATES for City’s Violent Crime Surge

(PresidentialWire.com)- Democratic Mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, has a million and one excuses for why her city is plagued with violent crime. The latest addition is the claim that neighboring states with more relaxed gun laws are to blame for her city’s skyrocketing violent crime numbers.

Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union last weekend, Lightfoot claimed that Indiana and other nearby states are the reason why people own guns and are shooting people dead in her city every week. In the clip below, you’ll hear Lightfoot explaining how criminals in her city are getting the guns from out of state.

“Our gun problem is related to the fact that we have too many illegal guns on our streets, 60 percent of which come from states outside of Illinois,” she said.

Doesn’t she realize that in order for those illegal guns to kill anybody, there need to be criminals willing to pull the trigger? They’re certainly not coming from states outside of Illinois!

“We are being inundated with guns from states that have virtually no gun control, no background checks, no ban on assault weapons – that is hurting cities like Chicago,” she claimed.

You’ll even hear her explain how she told President Trump that the only way to fix it is for the federal government to implement “commonsense gun control.”

Does Mayor Lightfoot think that criminals will stop using their illegal guns if the government implements more gun control? She does not offer an explanation of how she believes the government will be able to confiscate the illegal guns from criminals in Chicago.

Lightfoot also seemed to imply that anybody can get guns from our of state without background checks, with is not true. Every single state has background checks for people buying guns, as it is federally mandated. When a person buys a gun, they will need to go through a background check whether they’re buying it in Illinois, or in any neighboring states.

Will Mayor Lori Lightfoot ever take responsibility for the tragic violence in her city?
