Newsom’s False Claims Exposed
Governor Gavin Newsom’s attempt to rebrand himself as a moderate Democrat – or even a pseudo-conservative – just hit a major snag when he falsely claimed neither he nor his office has ever used the term “Latinx.”
But he has.
The California Governor made the claim during a recent appearance on conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s podcast, seemingly trying to distance himself from progressive language that has proven wildly unpopular with the American public.
Social media users quickly exposed Newsom’s dishonesty by uncovering multiple instances where the Governor had indeed used the term in official communications and social media posts. His office has repeatedly employed “Latinx” in public statements despite the term being unpopular among the very Hispanic communities it purports to represent.
During his conversation with Kirk, Newsom questioned the origin of “Latinx,” saying, “The Latinx stuff that, by the way, not one person ever in my office has ever used the word Latinx. Where did that even come from? Was it the pronouns?”
Newsom’s “Latinx” denial appears to be part of a broader strategy to reposition himself politically following Vice President Kamala Harris’s defeat in the 2024 presidential election. The California Governor has begun distancing himself from far-left positions on gender ideology and other controversial topics that have alienated moderate voters across the country. And it’s obvious he wants to make a run for President.
In the same interview with Kirk, Newsom surprisingly agreed with conservatives on the issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports. “I think it’s an issue of fairness, I completely agree with you. It is deeply unfair… That’s easy to call out, the unfairness of that,” Newsom stated, breaking with many in his party who have advocated for transgender inclusion in sports.
That’s also a fake position he’s only recently done a u-turn over…
Despite California’s ongoing struggles with high taxation, rampant homelessness, and a mass exodus of residents to more affordable states, Newsom has been working to elevate his national profile and thinks he can get away with it. But can he?
