(PresidentialWire.com)- Conservatives rarely agree with extreme left-wing Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but on social media and Big Tech, there are some levels of agreement.
And we really do mean some.
During an interview with Yahoo Finance that was published on Tuesday, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez said that Meta – the umbrella company that owns Facebook – should be broken up into smaller companies so that it can no longer engage in anti-competitive behavior.
To be clear, AOC’s disagreement with Meta’s size is different than conservatives’ overall disagreement. For conservatives, Meta’s size makes it easier for conservatives to be silenced – while for AOC, it’s just a matter of big companies getting bigger and richer.
“They are acting as an advertiser, they are acting as both platform and vendor, they are a communications platform which has historically been a well-established domain of anti-trust,” she said during the live interview.
$FB "should be broken up," Rep. @AOC says. "We should pursue antitrust activity on Facebook, and there are so many different reasons why." Full comments:https://t.co/Jb7k9tf4PH pic.twitter.com/m7EBCe6fmo

AOC, who must have been prepped on this beforehand by her handlers, said that Meta has too many assets built into a single company.
She’s not the only Democrat saying this, either. In 2020, 48 state attorneys general filed an antitrust lawsuit against Facebook to stop their “illegal monopoly” in the social media and advertising world.
Could AOC actually be useful for…something?
