(PresidentialWire.com)- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the far-left congresswoman representing New York, used her 60-second speech slot during the Democratic National Convention to nominate Senator Bernie Sanders, and not Joe Biden.
The video shocked people all over the world who assumed that AOC would be backing Biden, and a series of news outlets seemed to think it was a snub. While it’s certainly funny, it actually wasn’t a snub at all…it was actually what was always going to happen. NBC, a left-leaning news outlet, had to retract claims made about AOC nominating Sanders. It is, after all, a procedural requirement of the Democratic National Convention given she was always planning on nominating the Vermont senator.
Editor’s note and clarification (2/2):
Ocasio-Cortez was asked by the DNC to second Sanders’ nomination. The nomination is a procedural requirement of the convention.
Ocasio-Cortez has previously endorsed Biden, & her speech was similar in length to other nominating speeches.

NBC admitted that the DNC actually asked AOC to second the nomination of Sanders, even though she has already officially endorsed Joe Biden’s campaign.
“Good evening, bienvenidos, and thank you to everyone here today endeavoring toward a better, more just future for our country and our world, in fidelity and gratitude to a mass people’s movement working to establish 21st-century social, economic and human rights, including guaranteed health care, higher education, living wages and labor rights for all people in the United States,” Ocasio-Cortez stated.
After talking about “racial injustice” and all the other usual far-left talking points she has become known for, she went on to say that the people of the United States are “looking for deep systemic solutions” for “mass evictions, unemployment, and a lack of health care.”
“I hereby second the nomination of Senator Bernard Sanders of Vermont for president of the United States of America,” she ended.
The reason it probably came as a shock to everybody is the fact that her speech came in the form of a video, which was likely viewed by more people than if it were a regular speech. It was purely procedure, but watching it for the first time is certainly surprising. You know that AOC was fighting back tears when she said that, knowing Bernie Sanders will never be president of the United States.
