(PresidentialWire.com)- A 9-year-old girl in Texas was tragically shot in the head on Tuesday during a road rage incident. The young girl is said to be improving but was seriously injured in the attack.
Ashanti Grant was sent in critical condition to the Texas Children’s Hospital and her family has called for people to pray for her recovery.
The shooting took place at roughly 9 pm when Ashanti and her 11-year-old brother were in the car with their parents traveling to a grocery store located in southwest Houston. As they were on the freeway, their car got stuck between two vehicles that were racing. The driver of one of the cars kept on cutting off the Grant family car, and eventually decided to go behind the vehicle. The driver then proceeded to fire multiple shots at the Grants’ car, and one bullet hit Ashanti in the head.
JUSTICE FOR ASHANTI 🙏 The 9 year old's grandmother told us Ashanti Grant is out of surgery. She's moving her fingers and toes. She's a 4th grader at Savannah Lakes. "There's nothing you can do but just pray and ask everybody to pray for her," said Elaine Williams. #abc13 pic.twitter.com/WNi6aOCal8

Ashanti’s grandmother Elaine Williams described feeling “numb” by the tragic incident.
“You cry so much. There’s no more tears next,” she said. “She’s the sweetest little angel.”
Houston Police are currently searching for the person responsible for the crime. Houston Crime Stoppers also offered a $5,000 reward for anybody who can provide information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
Ashanti’s uncle, Larry Grant, also shared photographs of Ashanti with the press, including a video that was published on KHOU 11 News. The family hopes that the images of the happy little girl may encourage people to come forward and offer any information they may have about the shooter.

The 4th grader is young enough to still believe in fairy tales, not old enough to understand why someone would shoot up her family's SUV on their way to a grocery store.@houstonpolice are searching for the shooter.#khou11 pic.twitter.com/Mk55GNJlJO
